Teishin Therapy and the Eight Extraordinary Vessels
Duration: 10 hours
Teishin Therapy is useful for patients who are averse to needles. It also makes an outstanding adjunctive therapy for body-workers and energy-workers since it is based on TCM theory and there is no puncturing of the skin. The course is a series of workshops which is appropriate for TCM and non-TCM practitioners alike.
- Eight Extraordinary Vessel syndromes.
- Micro-system: auricular therapy using teishin.
- 'Three Needle Technique' (San Zhen)
- Master Tong's distal points
Goals/objectives:
- Discuss Eight Extraordinary Vessel theory and clinical application
- Demonstrate effective use of Eight Extraordinary Vessels with teishin or needles in the treatment of commonly presenting conditions
- Discuss and demonstrate effective use of major body points, ear points and Master Tong's points for reinforcing Eight Extraordinary Vessel treatment
Teishin Therapy for the Treatment of Stress, Anxiety and Depression
Duration: 10 hours
Teishin II gives the student-practitioner sound fundamentals in understanding the TCM treatment of stress, anxiety and depression. Emphasis will be on correctly identifying signs and symptoms relating the common mental-emotional disorders - or 'spirit diseases' - of stress, anxiety and depression as well as the TCM disease mechanisms which drive these common complaints. In addition to regular TCM channel points, extra points are incorporated from Master Tong's system in accord with TCM pattern discrimination.
Goals: Students will be required to demonstrate:
- Competence in recognizing patterns relating to stress, anxiety and depression
- Creation of a logical treatment plan
- Proper point location of various distal points as well as auricular points for correcting patterns of imbalance related to stress et al
Teishin Therapy for the Treatment of Pain
Duration: 10 hours
In Teishin III, students will gain solid fundamentals for diagnosing and treating patterns relating to pain. Emphasis will be on correct understanding of pain according to TCM theory as well as treatment of pain using Teishin, auricular therapy and moxa. In addition, Dr. Tan's methods will be explained and demonstrated for greater efficacy in treating areas of the body too painful for direct treatment.
Goals: Students will be required to:
- Discriminate patterns related to the complaint of pain
- Demonstrate correct treatment of pain using Teishin and adjunctive therapies to treat both the root and branch
- Erect treatment plans using Dr. Tan's system of ipsi-lateral and contra-lateral treatment
